Okinawan governor ,Onaga, indicates cancellation of approval of relocating the US Marine base to Henoko.

About relocation of Futenma air base (Okinawa prf Ginowan city) Former Okinawan governor disclosed the full text of the report indicated "legal defect" by third-party organization. Present Okinawan governor Takeshi Onaga said "I'm really sure we're ready for cancelling relocation of the US Marine base legally because I checked it carefully against Japanese original law." He still have strong intention to revoke the approval of relocation project which was once approved by former Okinawan governor.

The third-party organization has been established by Onaga to inspect validity of approval process of relocation project by Nakaima Hirokazu former governor who had approved reclaiming the coast area of Henoko located in Nago city. Since February this year, he has held total 13 meetings on reconsideration of relocation of the US base and interviewed bureaucrats about this. This month on the 16th, he submitted the report to prefectural assembly. At that time, he explained jsut outline of this problem and didn't disclose the whole content of the report.

The report which was disclosed on the website on 29th with committee minutes, indicated insufficient explanation about why the base shouldn't be moved off island and why the base should relocate in Henoko. Onaga said " The explanation of "reinforce deterrent" "geographical advantage" is still ambiguous to us and not enough to solve our doubt perfectly so we have still strong concern about necessity of reclamation". Onaga will make his final decision to cancel the approval of reclamation in the end of August.
