Japanese standard excellent worker is not prevalent to the world standard

The situation Japanese people's competency can be sufficiently exerted is doing as they are told and following the orders in every particular. Japanese are really serious towards their work and care very much about niceties of their task. This behavior helps people in managing position very much. They steal nothing and don't cut corners. They aim persistently at perfection of the orders they were told. They are really serious about what they're doing. I'm really sure during war situation, Japanese people are suited more for soldier rather than staff officer or general.

However, Japanese people are really bad at flexible approach. For example, when one customer says a waiter to remove one specific food out of a plate because the food contains allergic nutrient for the customer, there are few Japanese who can respond properly and flexibly this kind of requiest.
They repeat same phrases like "Manual says we need to serve all foods written on the menu. We don't have any exception about this. If you can't eat it, please set the food aside on the edge of the plate..."

"This is not a kind of talking that I force a waiter to let price discount as much food as I ordered to remove. I am ready for paying the price shown on the menu. All I want to request is just to remove the food I can't eat. But they will not because their permissible range is all depending on their boss's or their company's intention. They are not given a free hand which they can respond flexibly customer's demand on their task to some extent. They cannot afford to think for themselves how well they can support their customer and respond any request reasonably and logically." Too submissive servants is pretty difficult to treat. They are like a inflexible bureaucrat officer.

On the other hands, Japanese people is just the oppose of Italian people who don't like obeying the order and have some aspects of idleness towards their work. It is totally difficult for formalists to survive and get used to live in Italian society. Once when I used Italian LLC, ticketing machine was gone and I need to be issued ticket directly from LLC counter at the airport. Then suddenly LLC stuff lost all his mind, and brought a sheet of white paper from somewhere and tore it into pieces and he started writing something hastily on it and he shouted "Here is your ticket. Don miss it!". After all, this handwritten piece of paper was a ticket.

I encountered the same situation at the airport in Japan. The stuff explained the situation very hard to passengers and seemed to wait for instructions of upper management. How can you treat happened trouble smoothly to avoid customer's complaint without being given free hand? It's more human-like treatment that stuff flexibly handwrite a piece of paper which is substitute for ticket when a trouble happens rather than waiting quietly for someone's instructions.

This is the reason I can't hate Italy no matter how terrible trouble I face at. People in Italy have more human-life feelings and know flexible approach. Their approaches to customers is different from each individuals, which sometimes annoys me but is so interesting.

In the situation which requires people creativity, there is a case the Japanese character like sticking to the rules and not going against boss goes worse situation.

For example, an American salesman who is my friend is careless about being on time and his work attitude is really bad. He selfishly decided to work at home without company's permission. If he were in Japan, he would absolutely battle with his boss and is reported to the personnel department as trouble maker. His work performance review must be going to be the worst.

However, he thought out the very unique and fantastic idea which nobody could come up with and made a big contract. He always quarrels with his boss and clashed with colleague all the time but he made a good result so everyone evaluate his ability like "Every man has his faults. Anyways, he is interesting and excellent."

Japanese people are punctual, don't loose something and obedient to their boss but can't get a big contract by making the most of their creativity with unfettered thought , never say something crazy and extraordinary at a meeting, their suggestions are very common, no slugger and no home run. They are very serious but evaluation at the viewpoint of creating something from scratch is not good. In spite of going to Japanese superior university, once they venture into a western company, Japanese people may be labeled as a good‐for‐nothing.
